The father of a client is severely ill and has end stage Parkinson's disease with several complications. It is difficult for him to see his father deteriorate, his mother upset and anxious and feel that he does not know what he can do. The doctors mentioned hospice care upon transfer to a rehab facility but did not have a conversation with my client or his family.
I explained that hospice can be very helpful in making the patient comfortable, and improve quality of the remaining life for the patient and his family.
